Powers:
Ink Manipulation
Alaska can separate ink from its original mediums, be it from books, drawings, prints, and tattoos and bring it into physical shape. The ink manifestation once separated from its medium is nearly indistinguishable from the original, aside from obviously being made of ink. Alaska can assert control over manifestations that would normally be sentient in real life, but can only focus on one manifestation at a time. For example, if Alaska were to manipulate the ink drawing of a bunny, the ink would hop off the pages and form into a life sized bunny. The ink bunny would behave the same as a normal bunny would, however can be controlled by Alaska telepathically. In another example, if she were to manifest a knife from a painting it could function exactly like a knife would, cutting bread etc.
The limitations of this ability lie within the duration at which ink can remain separated and the amount of manifestations Alaska can maintain and control. She can manage to keep a single manifestation active for up to half an hour, and up to 3 for ten minutes. If Alaska were to manifest a knife, a bunny, and a honey badger, she could only assert control over the bunny or honey badger, but not both. If she chooses the honey badger, it will do whatever is asked of it if possible, the bunny will do regular bunny activities, and the knife is inanimate and as such does not need to have control asserted over it.

General Appearance:
Alaska is an alternative-styled girl, usually going for band t-shirts, black clothing, leather, jeans, chokers etc. She very rarely dresses up "classy", and usually just sports a punk rocker type of Riot Girl vibe. Alaska sports a slender, athletic, build considering the Jiu-Jitsu training and general exercise, but she can also be described as somewhat curvy. She wears dirty blonde hair, with darker roots, and likes to change up the styling pretty often. Usually she leaves her hair down, but she carries a hair tie on her wrist in case she needs to tie it into a bun or pony on the fly. She loves wearing clothes that show skin, and she loves the feeling of power that it gives her. Generally, she radiates confidence with each strut she makes, essentially demanding attention with her sheer presence. She carries a man's wallet around with her instead of a purse due to convenience reasons.
Personality:
Alaska is a free spirit. She does whatever she feels will make her happy in that moment, even if it means facing the consequences later. She's never held onto a relationship for very long, and is fiercely independent. She values the opinions of her close friends and those who've earned her respect but disregards the criticism of others otherwise, casting it off as useless or uninvited. Despite the demons she's faced and the demons still to face in the future, Alaska can usually find a way to smile and laugh through a situation, even if it is just a coping mechanism underneath the surface.
Loyal to a fault, Alaska finds honor in standing up for those who've earned her trust and friendship. She will go to any lengths to help a friend in need, even if it puts her in a bad situation. Alaska is the kind of girl who uses the phrase, "Snitches get stitches." She'd never sell out or betray a friend, nor would she cheat on a significant other. There aren't a whole lot of people in Alaska's life who have earned her trust, so the value that she places on those she trusts is extremely important to her.
Alaska can come off as bitchy, rude, mean, or sassy sometimes. She's sarcastic, mischievous, and even demanding at times which can put people on the back foot when they first meet her. She's usually disliked by parents and strict teachers, and thus has developed a sort of disdain for authority. She's the first to speak her mind when put in a situation she doesn't like and the last one to let an opportunity to stick-it-to-the-man pass her by.
Not everyone is forthright with their past and Alaska is no exception. She usually avoids having difficult conversations with people and will usually deflect when asked about her past. If she is cornered into talking about her past she usually uses comedy and her sarcastic attitude as self defense mechanisms to avoid letting people get too close to her and see her vulnerabilities. Invasion of her privacy is a big pet peeve.
Alaska is artsy by nature and has been drawing since she should could grasp a pencil and put it to paper. She spends tons of time working on art projects, visiting record stores looking for rare albums, hitting up museums/art galleries, going to concerts, admiring graffiti, and things like that. Art is the only thing about humanity that Alaska has come to love with all of her heart. She believes that once we solve all of our worldly issues, all that will be left for us to do is create. So why wait till then?

History
Alaska Baker was born on a warm late July morning in Vancouver, BC, to a Henry and Cheryl Baker. She was the first and only child the two would have, however, because nearly two years after Alaska's birth Henry died of liver failure due to alcohol abuse. Struggling to provide for a child by herself, Cheryl moved the two from place to place a lot during the first few years of Alaska's life.
By the time Alaska could form memories, Cheryl had already dated 5 new men and moved into a new place 10 times. This serial dating, this constant need for a man in Cheryl's life, would remain a constant through Alaska's childhood. Things never settled down, things never normalized, and things never got into a routine. Cheryl spent more time with her boyfriends and work than she did paying attention and taking care of Alaska. From the time she could walk, Alaska had practically been taking care of herself.
Public school was hard, Alaska would have a hard time relating to others, and would get into fights with people who would make fun of her dead father. She hated being the kid with a dead dad and a deadbeat mom. She hated being different. And she hated that people didn't seem to understand her. Alaska grew mischievous and developed a disdain towards authority. Her mom never paid attention where she went in the first place, so it didn't really matter what activity she was into. The latch-key child that she was, as long as she came home every couple days, everything was fine. If any concerned parent notified the authorities, her mom always knew the perfect story to tell in order to keep Alaska around, and yet Alaska wanted nothing more than to run away.
Middle school was nothing but exploding toilets, 2 a.m. graffiti sessions, skipping gym class to smoke cigarettes in the girls room, shoplifting, pranks, and all sorts of misbehavior dreamt up by Alaska and her two friends. Every day was like a moshpit of childish hijinks and well thought-out devious plans. She got piercings and tattoos from her mom's sketchy boyfriends' friends, and began learning jiu-jitsu with the thought that she should be able to protect herself if needed, because deep down she never really felt like anyone would protect her.
Alaska's abilities began to manifest when she turned 12, the doctors quick to inform her mother, who had been expecting this for while considering the fact that both she and Henry had both been meta-humans. Henry had the ability to split himself into 4 identical bodies and Cheryl had the ability to change the density of her skin. Alaska always thought that Cheryl's power suited her, since she always seemed to choose dangerous, troubled, and abusive men as lovers. Within the week, a representative from a meta-human school was at the Bakers' door. It seemed to Alaska that she had no choice in the matter, and so reluctantly, she went.
Thrust into a new school for powered people, Alaska didn't adjust very well. She would dip in and out of fits of depression, being separated from the little bit of normal that she had managed to craft in her life. She struggled to make friends there, not for lack of wanting to, but because she couldn't stop thinking about how badly she just wanted to choose her own path in life. All of this time, and she hadn't really had much agency on where her life would take her and why. In the 5 years after, she struggled in her classes, barely being able to pay attention while she was there, if she were even able to get herself out of bed and into class in the first place. Her power control had gotten better over the years, but her general academics were so bottom of the barrel it seemed she had fallen so far behind. It almost seemed impossible to continue. Especially when she nearly got expelled for putting a boy in a rear-naked choke after he made comments about her parents, namely her dad.
After adjusting to the new school seemed to prove fruitless, Alaska applied for a transfer to a school in Vermont. Vermont was important for 3 reasons: 1. It was farther away from her mom. 2. There was a school for meta-humans there. and 3. Her Grandma lived nearby. Alaska loved her grandma. She would come visit her as a child, always bringing toys, love, and affection. Love and affection being things that Alaska not only lacked, but craved deep in her bones. Now was the chance. A chance for her to make her own decision on where to live, where to go to school, what to do with the rest of her life, and ultimately her choice on how to view the world around her. She had no clue what the future held for her, but she knew this: Only good things can lie ahead, because not only did she apply for the transfer to Hammel and get accepted, but she did it all on her own volition. This was her choice. This is her story.
