The Basics
Her brothers are both self-acknowledged slackers and, in her opinion, completely lame. Jason is fascinated with such ridiculous dorkiness as Batman. Reginald is the wild child of the three. She gets along with him sometimes, but at others he completely embarrasses her, particularly as he doesn't understand her desire to be popular and constantly thwarts it with his stupid antics. At least, she assumes that his stupid antics reflect poorly on her, and as such she does not appreciate them.
Her family lives a comfortably middle class lifestyle. They aren't wealthy, but they can afford what they need alongside luxuries. Of course, Marlow doesn't understand why her parents won't let her spend all their money on designer clothes; she realizes they aren't poor, but she thinks that pricey outfits should be a right and not a luxury. Still, her mother has taught her how to look good while being thrifty, so while she would love to be able to by this seasons hottest trends, she at least can be thankful that the man on the street can't tell Gucci from Luis Vuitton and has no idea that most of her outfit came from Target.
Marlow was 12 when she first turned into a puddle in the presence of the guy she had a crush on. She was thoroughly mortified by this turn of events, and refused to leave the girl’s bathroom for the entire rest of the school day. Four days later a recruiter from Hammel was at their door. They weren’t terribly surprised; meta-humans were well known, and Marshall had covered the careers of enough meta athletes that he had immediately realized this was what was happening with his daughter. They hadn’t known about Hammel, of course, but since they didn’t have a choice they shipped her off. Reginald actually manifested as a meta two months after his sister arrived at Hammel, which is the one thing Marlow tries to hold over him, that even though he’s older she manifested first.
She’s spent the past two years flirting with any boy who so much as looks at her and trying desperately to become popular. The fact that Hammel isn’t exactly a normal high school -- not just in that everyone has powers, but the popularity hierarchy doesn’t exactly work the way she thinks it should, either, perhaps in part due to so many students being separated from their families or experiencing power related trauma. It’s very difficult to achieve popularity solely through her cheerleading, which vexes her. If she can’t become popular through beauty and The Right Activities she isn’t sure how else to go about it.

Marlow can turn into a puddle of water. She specifically tends to turn into a five foot puddle of water when she’s nervous or upset. As a puddle of water she can leak her way down a hall or under a door, but she can only go about ten feet or so before her ability to move is finished and done. Her clothes do not turn into a puddle with her, but if she turns back into a human immediately where she is they will more or less be on her correctly still, only sopping wet.
Changing states comes with a great deal of uncontrollable sobbing (she wishes it didn’t, she really does) and dripping water all along the floor for an hour after she’s turned back into her normal human form. It also makes her feel dizzy, so if she turns into puddle more than once a day she has to go lie down until she can walk without falling over again.

General Appearance:
Marlow is a tiny girl, standing 5 feet even without heels. She's in good shape, thanks to her time spent at cheerleading and a strict diet of apples, celery and protein bars. She has dark brown eyes and dark hair that she allows to remain in it's natural springy state.
She's very concerned with appearing attractive and as such wouldn't be caught dead out of the house without nails and makeup done, and she makes weekly trips to the beauty salon for mani-pedis, waxing and facials. Likewise, her clothing is very rarely plain; if she does opt for a simple jeans and t-shirt affair, she'll be sure to glam it up with heels and chunky jewelry -- and of course, sparkly earrings. She claims that she feels naked if she leaves the house without them.
Personality: At first glance, Marlow is your typical flaky cheerleader. Her biggest concerns are appearance and popularity; anything else comes after those two things. She is particularly interested in male attention; she'll flirt shamelessly to get what she wants. However, she isn't promiscuous; instead, she jumps from long term relationship to long term relationship, and she tends to get rather depressed if she doesn't have a boyfriend. The truth is that she's very insecure, and craves the validation of her self-worth that having a boyfriend brings. She tends to play helpless in situations she could handle herself simply because she needs the attention.
Part of her insecurities are due to the fact that she processes new information slowly. She's always struggled in school because of this, and while she's managed to maintain good enough grades to stay on the cheerleading squad, it has only been with great effort. She's convinced that other people have an easier time than she, a fact that is supported by her older brothers, both certified slacker who nonetheless breeze through school with little effort. She's determined because of this that she's stupid and her only value lies in her ability to land a man. Even at 14 her self-stated goal is to be a trophy wife, a goal she is certainly striving towards with her diet and exercise regimen.
Of course, it isn't only men she wants to be popular with. She would love nothing better than for other girls to love her, too; however, she also views them as competition, and while she claims to have enough confidence in her attractiveness to not care, the truth is that she does. She's always sizing up other girls, and when threatened she's prone to being quite mean, though usually passive-aggressively so. She believes that all other girls are the same, so she has a difficult time trusting them. She says that boys make better friends, but what she really means is she's more intimidated by those she's in direct competition with, and as her competition is largely with the female sex, she's less comfortable with them.
She very determinedly avoids anything that isn't normal or mainstream. She doesn't understand people who are self-consciously weird, like the scene or goth kids, or who shamelessly enjoy things outside the mainstream, like the nerds and the indie freaks. She doesn't get it, and she doesn't want to; sure, those things would garner attention, but it wouldn't be universally positive, and that's what she's holding out for. .

History
Marshall Estes writes for the sports section of the local paper and runs a popular blog on football. His wife, Stefanie, is a legal aide. They have two sons, Jason and Reginald, and they had planned on stopping there. Marlow was unexpected, a fact that Marlow herself is aware of and resents, feeling that she was unwanted. Her parents aren't unloving, but they are occasionally rather dense, seeming not to notice when they reinforce their daughter's negative self-image. Her mother constantly criticizes other girls who aren't attractive (or who are too weird) and thus "Can't get men", and while her father is largely silent on that issue he doesn't try to dissuade her mother, so she assumes he agrees.
