Powers: Personal Kinetic Force Field:Ryn's meta human ability involves the creation of an energy force field, something of which she can project about six to eight inches off her body. When activated, the shield is a translucent purple color and can be shaped as Ryn sees fit but at this point in time takes concentration in order to do so. When she does shape it, she is presently limited to altering the shape to fit more closely to her body shape, expanding to a dome shape, and adding spikes around the outside as additional defense or offensive capability. So far, this power is involuntary in the fact it can trigger at its own accord when she is upset or feels threatened, including being startled by someone by accident or on purpose, but is also voluntary that she can trigger it consciously as well.
The shield also acts as a way to absorb and deflect kinetic energy, or objects in motion. Should an object or individual collide with the field the kinetic energy behind the collision can either be absorbed and distributed across the field or can be deflected with equal force back at the target.
As a side effect of this shield, Ryn does face sensory problems, more specifically with her sense of touch being more heightened and feeling the feedback across the shield itself which acts as an extension of herself. She also lacks full control of whether the shield will trigger or not, sometimes involuntarily so when her fight-or-flight response kicks in or when she has to be aware of danger afoot. Her ability to use the shield is also limited to only herself, being unable to extend it further than eight inches or transfer it to other people and does require quite a bit of fuel the longer she uses it, therefore she often eats big meals to keep up her energy after using it. She also has no control over the amount of kinetic energy the shield absorbs or the direction the blow comes from. When you add migraines and a power that requires some concentration to use, the pain of her migraines can be magnified to the point of crippling, or her powers not only require excessive need to eat big meals but can also cause fatigue and dizziness.

General Appearance: Ryn is a young, brunette teenager of average height with a lean, slender somewhat athletic build. In terms of style, she has a much more casual style, preferring clothing that are comfortable and easy to wear such as t-shirts and jeans. She isn't picky with shirts, preferring things that are plain or with prints, but nothing too obnoxious and are either short-sleeved or tank tops, with the occasional long-sleeved shirts but mostly for colder weather. Ryn's style also includes the occasional splash of plaid. Her pants lean towards dark or faded blue jeans and khakis, whether long pants or shorts. When the time calls for it, Ryn will wear formal attire but only when necessary, in which case this attire will consist of formal tank tops, cardigans, black or tan khakis, and wedges or nice sandals. Although she will wear the occasional nice dress, but avoids it if she can.
Personality: Ryn is first and foremost a soft-spoken, quiet individual. She is not one to really speak out much or immediately speak her thoughts, preferring to keep to herself and simply be invisible as it were. She has always been shy, from the time she was a child to well into her teens, being the person that has difficulty looking people in the eyes or being in a large crowd. Preferring smaller crowds and a few close friends, Ryn has always been comfortable being the wallflower or the person people are less inclined to notice, finding keeping to her thoughts and to herself has been the most helpful albeit somewhat troublesome as well. Being quiet and shy, she has lacked self-esteem, which was made no better by the fact her quietness has made her the target of ridicule and bullying over the years.
But, that isn't to say Ryn is completely a wallflower. Despite being quiet, she is rather creative and observant. Ryn loves to work with her hands and is imaginative, leaning towards the realms of painting or sketching in abstract and surrealism in her spare time, though she isn't quite so confident her pieces are that great. They are more or less a hobby to keep herself busy. But, her creative and imaginative mind also mean she tends to think differently than some, tending to think outside the box and unorthodox ways to solve situations and problems. With being quiet though, Ryn also uses that aspect of her personality to observe her environment and people, getting to know them and tending to take in information that way.
Over time, as Ryn becomes comfortable with people or places, she will slowly open up and reveal a little more about herself. Beneath the quiet exterior one can find that Ryn is a deeply empathetic, compassionate individual with a kind and caring disposition and who tries to do what she can for others. She is selfless and laid-back, being one that will help a total stranger in need or just be the type to lend a ear when someone needs to vent their woes and frustrations. However, this caring nature can sometimes make Ryn come off as too trusting and can be taken advantage of, but she does try to use some caution when extending a helping hand.
Ryn can likewise be relaxed enough she does show something of an easy-going, social side. Ryn can have a dry wit and dry sense of humor, or even somewhat dark sense of humor, it depends on the group or people she hangs around. She can also be talkative with those people she becomes comfortable with, becoming more open, expressing her thoughts, and otherwise will talk about almost any topic even if she does not otherwise know much about it. She loves to learn and listen, so talking with people from all walks of life is something she genuinely enjoys, it just takes time for her to get use to people in general. She also expresses a strong-willed, loyal, and dedicated side that may not be as evident when she is being quiet.
However, Ryn isn't one to completely hide her physical language or completely stays quiet. She will express irritation and annoyance as quickly as she might try to hide them, sometimes her emotions being read like a book. She also has something of a quick temper and won't be afraid to express her outrage towards someone, sometimes surprising people when she shows these outbursts. Ryn also has a stubborn streak, sometimes to the point of being difficult to be around or change her mind on a matter and can at times get argumentative depending on the subject.

History
Ryn's family life started out a little rocky during her first few months of life. Her biological father and her mother, Dana, had only been together a few years and married for no more than a year before she was born. But, her biological father would only be in her life for roughly eight months following her birth showing little interest in her or her mother before several lies and deceptions came to light, especially affairs, drugs, fraud, and many other illegal activities Ryn has never known to this day.
Once the truth was out, Dana kicked her husband out and the two were soon divorced, forcing Dana and Ryn to move in with her parents to try and get back on her feet. Living in Alaska during this time, Ryn was blissfully unaware of the hardship her mother faced to an extent of being a single mother and the next five years was rough as she spent much of her time with either he grandparents or her aunt, who also had children of her own. Ryn knew her mother didn't have much money and that she often was gone, Dana working two jobs to support herself and her young daughter. Of her family, Ryn grew rather close to her grandmother, the only other meta-human in their family before her eventual passing when Ryn was four.
Shortly before her sixth birthday, Ryn and her mother had enough money to move out of Alaska shortly after Dana reconnected with an old high school sweetheart and later stepfather, William. Packing everything they owned, the two left to the Lower 48 and ended up in St. Augustine, Florida where William was living and at first were co-habitating. Despite Dana's concerns, Ryn took to the new living arrangements quickly, and the two slowly began to build their new life to the point that it became permanent. Dana and William began dating a year later and Ryn had began attending elementary school. Gradually, life changed for the better for the new family, spending their days building their finances, adjusting to the new family dynamics-which included the two eventually marrying-, and coming to rent a home rather than a trailer they had started in.
The pre-teen years rolled around quicker than Ryn could have imagined. Once again the family found themselves moving, this time to Thomasville, Georgia where Ryn would start her middle school years and by then had a younger brother, Caleb, who was about nine at the time. Unfortunately, these were some of the rougher years for Ryn as she found her shyness and quiet nature plus being an outsider due to being new working against her, drawing bullies and ridicule for not being the social type. Struggling the most during this time, she found herself retreating further into her shell and for a time grew to dislike school, sometimes even begging her mother to not let her go, but by law she had no choice. Miserable, Ryn found little solace in being in her new school, only finding it at the encouragement in her seventh grade English teacher who encouraged her to write and getting into a hobby of painting and drawing to keep her focused.
During that same year shortly after turning thirteen, Dana and William managed to find a local YMCA holding sporting events and discussed it with Ryn. Though not a sports fan, their insistence to give it a chance led her to find a new outlet for her social frustrations and to find a new social circle, finding the crowds smaller and these group of kids easier to get along with than those at school. Pushing through her middle school years, she graduated to move onto high school, where things got awkward and even more difficult. During the first half of her freshmen year just before winter break, Ryn had a particularly bad bullying experience during her morning health class involving her being a "late bloomer" and her shyness from a group of girls. Unsure of what to do and stressed, Ryn's force field manifested at this point for the first time at fourteen before the teacher could intervene, startling the girls with a scream and resulting a few students videoing the full experience.
Not but a week later, a knock on the door of the Burns residence changed Ryn's life forever.
It was the famous Hammel Institute who had seen the videos and came to get the young teenager. Though uncertain and still in shock at being a meta-human, Ryn made the necessary arrangements to go to the institute. Taking a couple days to get her things packed and ready and to bid her family fair well, she eventually left to Vermont where she has spent almost the past two years learning to better understand what it means to be a meta, how to control her abilities, and how to live a normal life with abilities.
