PLAYER WANTS
What is your plotting philosophy?
I like to talk. Conversations don't have to be very long beforehand, but I like to have an idea of what is going on when I start. I might ask questions about your expectations, and I will ask permission before engaging in something that might change the trajectory of a thread. I like to be asked. Most of the time, my answer is "yes" but I like to be asked first. I tend to assume that anything first discussed is established as canon unless renegotiated otherwise. If you change your mind, please let me know; most of the time, I will have no problem with it, but I like to be informed.
What types of plots are you interested in playing?
With students, I like mentor/mentee relationships and I always want more of these. Additionally, I am always available to set up a thread for a student character in need of one of Sean's many hats, be it therapy sessions, advice, or disciplinary threads. With the Ettingers, we already have this delightful plot where Chalina believes that he (they) are demon-possessed and is recruiting students to her cause. I'm happy to do threads to further the rumor mill. Regarding unrequited crushes, if your student wants to develop one this is fine, but it will be unrequited as I am opposed to student/teacher and it is an immediate firing offense; as long as it doesn't become too over the top, go for it. If a student needs help with, or a witness to, power shenanigans, I am available. Sean advises two clubs - the Student Activities Council and the Peer Mediators - and club threads or chaperoning are always welcome.
For coworkers, I like threads on campus and off campus. Characters can shoot the breeze in the staff lounge, sipping coffee and munching cookies. They can come for advice or evaluations now that Sean is headmaster. Perhaps Simon is having a bad day and someone wants to help, or they inadvertently happen upon Cyrus instead or mistake them. Something else I enjoy is the overlap between adults from when they were students, and thus if anyone wants to do threads with past teachers/peers for my characters, please sign me up.[/div]
Outside of Hammel, Sean lives on a cul-de-sac with Josh in a large house, and we like neighbors. The Ettingers live in an apartment complex and also like neighbors (or Cyrus does). Do you need a pet sitter or a baby sitter? Is there a block party or a potluck? Again, mistaken identity for Simon and Cyrus. I enjoy shenanigans or more serious threads, and I also don't mind coffee shop threads if you want to run into one another that way. Cyrus is in a band with some other MSM, and he and James Fawcett are close, which means that they are being introduced to one another's social circles. Sean still drinks and can be found at clubs and political functions, now that Josh is mayor - also protests. Sean has exes, some of whom are in the area, and thus we could have some plots there as well.
I currently play three student NPCs and an NPC English teacher, and if you want a drama buddy, or a sweet electrokinetic, or a pyrokinetic who loves comic books and Pokemon Go, let me know. They are available for threads.
What types of plots are you not interested in playing?
Sean is married, Cyrus is infatuated, and Simon has a lot on his plate. As such, unless you are Oreo, I am not interested in romantic relationships. I'm also not particularly interested in violence or running afoul of the law, except in the nature of a peaceful protest.
How often can you reply to any given thread?
My posting times are wildly inconsistent, and I readily acknowledge this. My ideal is to post within a day or two of receiving a reply or a starter, but I know that I sometimes fall short of this goal.
What is the longest you're willing to wait for a reply to a thread?
I am a patient person, and I will wait forever as long as you communicate with me that you are still interested. Otherwise, after a couple of months, I will assume that the thread is dead.
Are you open to RPing over instant messengers? If so, what's the best way to contact you and what times are you generally available?
I don't role play outside of the board. But I can be contacted on Chatango to plot, or via PM, or in the C-Box.
Are you open to post volleying?
If I am online and have the time, I am open to this. Sometimes it happens organically, when I am posting for someone and they post back quickly which leads to a quick turn around on my end. Otherwise, let me know and we can set a time; I would be happy.
Anything else?
I love to plot with everyone and I have no limit to the number of threads that I will take. Please, contact me and we can roleplay together. Additionally, because of the nature of psychic powers, and powers more generally, we have almost limitless potential to start.
PLAYER LIMITS
What are you limits regarding powerplay/godmoding?
I don't sweat the small stuff. If something makes sense, such as our characters walking, eating in a restaurant, drinking at a bar, it's fine to make that assumption for me. Beyond that, I like to discuss matters beforehand.
As for powers, if your power is something that happens in an instant, you are welcome to use it (e.g. empaths knowing emotions, anyone with sonic manipulation doing something loud, telekinetics moving smaller things around, people with super-enhanced perception or clairaudience remarking on IC matters, etc.), but for things that 1) invoke mental shields, 2) take longer to use, or 3) have a larger effect on the scene or on my character's person, I want the ability to respond first. I might not deflect, but I like having the opportunity.
What are your limits in regards to romantic situations?
My characters are spoken for and thus this is not applicable to anyone but Oreo.
What are your limits in regards to sex (within the TOS)?
My characters are spoken for, and thus this is not applicable to anyone but Oreo.
What are your limits in regards to violent scenes (within the TOS)?
I have no interest in violent plots, except to have characters break up student fights, so this is not applicable.
What are your limits in regards to abuse/rape in plots?
If someone needs to come to one of my characters for help afterwards, then they is available. Likewise, if a character has experienced this and is in therapy with Sean, I am open to such threads. Beyond that, I have no interest in these plots, as either a perpetrator or as a victim.
Anything else?
One of the side-effects of telepathy is that Sean and the Ettingers gets songs stuck in his head that he wasn't listening to. I don't get to invoke this very often, but if someone wants to suggest something to me, let us make it happen. For the Ettingers, they will not change in the middle of a thread, but let me know who you want to write with. Additionally, there are only a couple of people who know their secret, but if you want your character to guess (correctly or incorrectly), contact me first and we can see if it is believable.
Finally, I should note that as a writer of characters with telepathy and empathy, I consider narrative fair game if it applies to the power and situation. E.g. if your character is thinking X in the moment, my telepath might overhear. This does not make them privy to all of their thread partners' darkest secrets, nor does it mean that they will remark upon it or use it to their advantage in any way.
Finally, I ask that you please use trigger warnings for rape and sexual assault, terminal illness, and ideation. Likewise, the Ettingers will have ideation and mental illness tags in their posts and threads from time to time and I ask that you are mindful.
