Greetings, everyone!
We have a number of announcements for things that have just happened, are happening now, and will happen soon on Hammel! We have been open for about a month, and we have hit the ground running. I could not be more pleased with what an excellent start we are up to with our (re)launch.
First, and perhaps most importantly, Hammel wishes a sincere welcome to all of our members: Oreo, Kallisti, and Foose!
To make plotting easier (and to get into the habit), here is a list of our new characters for our new site: Dr. Sean Neville (Sean), Joshua Bernstein (Oreo), James Fawcett (Oreo), Irving Coley, Jr. (Oreo), Glenn Traupel (Oreo), Orlando Pareja (Oreo), Simon and Cyrus Ettinger (Sean), Wayne Dietrich (Kallisti), Ash Anderson (Foose), Marlow Estes (Oreo), Reema Taghvai (Oreo), Chalina Noriega (Oreo), Appoline Meian (Kallisti), Vincent Meian (Kallisti), Ricky O'Cassidy (Kallisti), Tiberius Hill (Oreo), Dr. Nakia Kenjutsushi (Kallisti), and Elias Weber (Oreo).
Coming soon/on the horizon: November events, and a guide to local floral, fauna, and lore of Vermont.
Our very first Writing Challenge and Graphics Challenge have been posted and are open for entries until a few days before the end of the month. This month's inaugural Writing Challenge is "Family Dinner" and our Graphics Challenge is "Build Us a Banner". If we receive enough participation, then there will be challenge polls, so please participate.
We have many events and plots on the horizon!
First, let’s have a roundup of the current events and open plots still ongoing on Hammel:
-First, the Hammel Halloween Dance is underway, taking place in the school auditorium on Saturday, October 26, 2019. Costumes are encouraged, and this is an open thread for all staff (and spouses) and students with no posting order. No nudity, no weapons, no substances, please.
-The school year is underway and there is an open staff thread in the faculty lounge discussing the frustrations of teaching and teenage heartbreak. If you have a staff member, you are encouraged to join.
-Chalina Noriega is convinced that there are ghosts haunting Hammel and wants to put together a ghost hunting team to investigate. Please contact Oreo to join up.
-There is a farm twenty or thirty minutes by car outside of Pilot Ridge that does rides, a petting zoo, carnival food, and a corn maze. They are open until the weekend before Thanksgiving and players are encouraged to set threads there.
-Hammel will put on a spring musical, and we will take suggestions. Try-out details to follow.

-Players are encouraged to enroll their students in clubs and to have club threads. These can be created by players of faculty advisers or of student members. The more, the merrier.
-Tuesday is Election Day. The mayor is not on the ballot but common counsel seats and a few lower government positions are. If your character is domiciled in Pilot Ridge, a citizen, and 18 years or older, please don't forget to vote.
-Coming soon: a list of Mayor Bernstein's decrees since assuming office in January.
-There will be a Thanksgiving pie tutorial thread later this month, open to students and faculty of Hammel.
We have much on the horizon for winter:
December:
-The annual Pilot Ridge Holiday Bash will be hosted at a venue TBD. Mayor Bernstein will choose the catering, the decorations, and the charity. The theme is "Winter Wonderland" and there will be alcohol (making it open only to those characters 21+).
-Hammel will host its annual gender wars snowball fight. Typically this is boys vs. girls with non-binary students and staff joining whatever team they see fit.
-Dr. Atticus Proctor is working on a new patent. Strange smoke billows from his laboratory at odd hours of the night. What is he up to?
For the purposes of IC plotting:
The following Hammel Student Clubs and Sports Teams have no faculty advisor:
-Basketball
-Football
-Soccer
-Softball
-Swimming
-Track and Field
-Art Club
-Band
-Cinema Club
-Dance Team
-Drama Club
-Newspaper
If you have any interest in having your Hammel staff member serve as a faculty advisor, please post in the signup thread.
If you play a student or faculty advisor and you want to hold a club meeting thread, you require no approval to post it. If you want a club activity such as a fundraiser, please contact Sean for OOC planning.
